Built on the Water. Built for the Future.
South Bay Maritime Club was founded with a single purpose: to connect people with the sea and open doors to meaningful careers in the maritime industry.
Workforce Development Through Maritime Education
We believe the maritime industry offers some of the most rewarding and underrepresented career pathways available today. Our mission is to change that — by providing structured, hands-on training that prepares students for real jobs on real vessels.
From first-time sailors to aspiring marine mechanics, South Bay Maritime Club meets students where they are and builds the skills, confidence, and credentials they need to succeed.
Hands-On First
Every lesson happens on the water. We believe real skills come from real experience, not simulations.
Open to All
Maritime careers have historically lacked diversity. We actively recruit students from all backgrounds and offer scholarship pathways.
Industry-Recognized
Our curriculum is aligned with USCG certification standards so students graduate with credentials that matter to employers.
How We Got Here
South Bay Maritime Club grew out of a shared frustration: too many young people in the South Bay area had no clear pathway into the maritime industry, despite living minutes from the water.
A small group of maritime professionals, educators, and sailing enthusiasts came together to build something different — a workforce development organization that combined the rigor of professional training with the accessibility of a community club.
Today, we operate two structured training tracks, partner with South Bayfront Sailing Association for facilities and fleet access, and have helped dozens of students take their first steps toward maritime careers.
South Bayfront Sailing Association
South Bay Maritime Club operates in close partnership with South Bayfront Sailing Association (SBSA), one of the region's most established and respected sailing organizations.
Through this partnership, our students gain access to SBSA's fleet of training vessels, certified instructors, waterfront facilities, and a community of experienced sailors and maritime professionals.
SBSA's decades of experience on South Bay waters gives our programs a foundation that no classroom alone could provide.
